SangNamGan is an innovative pilot project committed to improving the lives of rural villagers in northwestern Laos in a sustainable, collaborative way. Due to low public investment, top-down development schemes, and villagers’ tight household budgets, many villages in Bokeo have desires and goals that are likely to persist unfulfilled indefinitely under the status quo. Combatting these barriers to development, SangNamGan encourages communities to co-invest in projects, leading to practical, low-cost, immediate solutions while promoting ownership and empowerment.
SangPomGan’s long-term mission is to nudge the aid community in Laos towards a more responsive, balanced approach to development. SangPomGan’s market-based approach to development is unique in that it values grassroots insights, scalability, and accountability. Another objective of SangPomGan is to build meaningful bridges between the East and West, by working hand in hand with rural communities.
